Career DevelopmentMedical TerminologyIntroductory course for those wanting to enter the health industry (hospitals or clinics) in a clerical capacity. Possible job titles include, Receptionists, Clerks, Personal Assistants, and Ward Assistants etc. Participants will be able to use appropriate medical terminology in oral and written communication, spell and pronounce basic medical terminology and more. Covers: Muscular & skeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary and kidney and digestive. No prior experience required. Req: pad & pen. (11 hours)
Medical Terminology AdvancedDeveloping medical terminology further to the point it could be used by professionals in a general practice or specialist practice setting. The course, assuming the participant has already met the requirements of the introductory course, ventures into areas such as diagnostic, ENT, orthopaedic, and cardiac as well as pharmaceutical terminology. In addition to the material offered in other courses, participants will be offered the opportunity to participate in some practice medical audio-typing to gain some hands-on experience prior to entering the field of medical secretary.
Receptionist & Office Administration TrainingWant to become a receptionist or work in office administration? Learn the basic skills required in an office environment in this very popular course. Includes a brief overview of office equipment, office documents and customer service. The keyboarding practice covered in each session can result in participants obtaining the nationally accredited keyboarding competency BSBITU102A Develop keyboard skills. Assistance will also be provided with job interview techniques along with resume writing. Certificates supplied upon successful completion. Req: pad & pen. 101RECEA: Tuesdays, 6-9pm 7 sessions from 2 February
First AidThe CPR and Level 1 courses are included within the Level 2 course so these are not pre-requisites for the Level 2 Course. Level 1 & 2 certificates are current for 3 years, providing that the CPR component is renewed every 12 months.
Basic CPR/CPR RefresherCardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a life saving skill every person should know. Suitable for those wanting to keep their first aid training current. Includes certificate. Req: Pad and pen, comfortable clothes. (3.5 hours)
Workplace Level 1
Workplace Level 2Carry out basic emergency First Aid. Includes: care of an unconscious victim, altered conscious states, fractures and soft tissue injuries, eye and ear conditions, burns, bleeding, shock, bites, stings, Legislation and Code of Practice - First Aid in the Workplace, and resuscitation (CPR and EAR).
