Assertiveness Skills

Do you feel good about the way you communicate? Effective communication is necessary and assertiveness training will assist you in standing up for yourself whilst allowing others to stand up for themselves. Introduces you to some assertiveness techniques using real life situations in a relaxed, informal environment. Req: Pad and pen. (12.5 hours)

Voice

Christopher John Snow trained at the Drama Centre London and has been a voice teacher for 25 years. The course will cover contemporary exercises for relaxation, breathing, voice quality, vowels and consonants, public speaking and speaking from a script. The aim is to develop your voice for auditions, performance or teaching. (10 hours)

Creative Writing

Discover how creative you actually are in this popular, confidence building beginner’s course. Getting Published

Ever wondered what it takes to get published as a writer? This course shows you the publishing process for books and magazines from developing an idea through to working with a publisher, learn about where to find contacts in the writing industry, how to write a book proposal and what tricks will give you the edge on the competition. The course also shares some ideas about royalties, contracts and payments. You can also gain some insight into writing online sources. You will leave this course with a first draft of a book proposal ready to go!

Writing Stories for Children

Do you have an idea for a children’s story that you would like to develop into a book? This course would suit those who want to write for publication as well as those who simply want to share a story with children, grandchildren or someone special. Aimed at adults writing for a children’s audience. Great for creating a unique gift for a special child. No writing or artistic experience required!

Essay Writing

Having trouble getting those fantastic ideas down on paper? Essay Writing will assist anyone studying at university, completing VCE or interested in the media. This course will cover grammar and punctuation, sentence and paragraph construction, argument formation and writing to word limits.

Professional Writing for Business

This course will equip you with some of the skills necessary for business writing. Learn how to engage a wide audience in a clear and precise manner. Topics covered include: basic grammar and punctuation, editing, page organisation, writing standard business letters and memos, complex reports and proposals. Suits those in sales, media, training, management, reception or PA roles.

Public Speaking

Public Speaking is often said to be the number one fear of most people. What people fail to understand is that fear is easily overcome… all it takes is a few simple techniques and strategies… These sessions will help you overcome nervousness, get rid of the butterflies, stop the shaky hands, and eliminate the sweaty palms. They will help you feel as comfortable presenting to a group as you are talking to a friend in the office. Explore how to: Gain the power and confidence of an excellent communicator & public speaker, become calm and confident, eliminate performance anxiety, create instant and unconscious rapport with groups, connect with your audience, skilfully handle questions, objections and hecklers, use and own the stage, use metaphors/stories, grab the audience’s attention and keep it.

Building on the knowledge you have already acquired in our Level 1 course you will go on to learn how to work more on overcoming your fears of public speaking, connect with your audience, structure your language to optimum effect, handle hecklers, use stories and metaphors effectively, use and own the stage, structure your presentation to fit everyone’s learning styles and most importantly make your presentation sparkle and deliver it with style.
